Affiliate disclosure
Last updated:
The short version
Some links on Skeinstead are, or may become, affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, Skeinstead may earn a small commission from the retailer. It doesn't cost you anything extra, and the price you pay is the same.
Who we work with
We apply to affiliate programs run by yarn makers and craft retailers. These may include Hobbii, Lion Brand, Yarnspirations, Crochet.com / Knit Picks, and Mary Maxim. We'll keep this page updated as programs approve or end. We don't use Amazon links.
Links to retailers whose programs we haven't joined, such as Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Dollar Tree and LoveCrafts, are ordinary links and earn us nothing. So are links to sellers we cite for a "lowest online price found," such as Instacart, Shipt or Herrschners.
How this affects what we write
- We pick and compare products on fiber, weight, yardage, gauge and price, not on commission rates. Store brands from retailers we don't earn from are included right alongside the rest.
- Every price lists its source and the date we checked it: a retailer product feed, a check by hand on the seller's own page, or, when a retailer blocks checks, the lowest online price we could verify from another seller. If we can't confirm a price, we label it "not yet verified." See how we get each price.
- We don't accept payment for positive coverage. If we ever receive a free product or sponsorship, we'll say so clearly on that page.
Where you'll see it
Pages with retailer links include a short note near the top that links back here.
